The eighth annual Taste The World in Fenton Village is expected to draw several thousand people Sunday, May 20 to sample foods from more than 30 restaurants in what’s billed as the D.C. area’s largest restaurant crawl.
Thirty-one neighborhood restaurants, representing international food from five continents, will offer tastes of their standard menus for anywhere from $2-$5 from 1-5 p.m.
Attendees may pick up their free event “passport” at one of three port entries, and earn a stamp for every taste purchased at a participating restaurant.
Any passports with at least three stamps are eligible to enter a raffle to win prizes, which will be announced at 5:30 p.m.
“This will be my fourth year attending Taste The World,” Wheaton resident Cedric Daniels said in a press release. “It’s become an event me and my family look forward to every year.”
Newcomers to this year’s event include Edible Arrangements, La Bamba, and Lamoon Thai.
On Georgia Avenue, attendees also can tour the B&O Railroad Station throughout the day and experience a part of Silver Spring’s history.
Fenton Village Inc., a local non-profit, coordinates Taste The World in Fenton Village in partnership with Montgomery County to promote and highlight local restaurants and show off the diversity of food in the eclectic neighborhood.
Fenton Village is a small, commercial neighborhood bounded by Wayne Avenue, Georgia Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue and Fenton Street. The neighborhood features more than 200 small and local businesses.
