Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian-involved collision that occurred Saturday night in Silver Spring, according to a press release.

The collision occurred at approximately 10:37pm on Saturday, September 5. County Police 3rd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to University Boulevard East and Langley Drive for the report of a collision:

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross University Boulevard East in the area of Langley Drive when, for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by a 2013 Ford Focus that was travelling west on University Boulevard East.

The driver of the Focus is identified as 34-year-old Mario Majano of Kemp Mill Road in Silver Spring.  Majano was not injured in the collision.

The adult male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.  He will be identified after his family is notified.
