Arts Council to Host Opening Reception Tonight

Graphic from Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County

The Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County will host a public reception tonight (July 6) for the opening of a new exhibit, “Free Space,” in the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery and Music Room of the Silver Spring Civic Building.

The exhibit is a collaboration between artists Akemi Maegawa and Jackie Hoysted to create a series of installations that encourage visitors to interact with the art in what’s described as “a space where opposing realities occur.”

Maegawa specializes in ceramics and sculpture, while Hoysted works in multiple media including paintings, sculpture, photography and videography.

The reception is from 6-8 p.m. tonight and is free, though AHCMC requests an RSVP. The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 7; gallery hours are from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
