Residents Can Remind Favorite Establishments to Apply for Relief Grants This Week

Local residents can help their favorite food and drink establishments by reminding them that this is the final week to apply for a grant of up to $10,000 from the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation’s Restaurant Relief program.

The MCEDC was directed to administer and award grants from an $8 million fund, which was approved by the County Council on Nov. 17, to eligible county restaurants and other entities like food trucks, caterers, and wineries and breweries that directly provide food service.

Eligible businesses are those that have the principal place of business in Montgomery County, with its location, or county-based locations, accounting for more than 50% of sales, or more than 50% of its employees, and had fewer than 100 FTE employees as of Sept. 1.

The MCEDC has produced a flyer that patrons can download from its website, and is encouraging customers to distribute them to eligible businesses. There are versions available in six languages in addition to English—Amharic, French, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and Vietnamese.

The deadline for submission of an application is Friday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. For more information, email [email protected]
