Rec Department to Offer Limited Indoor, In-Person Activities

Montgomery County Recreation will offer a limited number of indoor, instructor-led sports and fitness activities at four community rec centers beginning Tuesday, Feb. 16, the department announced.

The program, RecFit-Limited, is the first in-person recreation program offered at community recreation facilities since last March when the facilities closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This has been a hard year on everyone and getting our residents safely back into our programs is our highest priority,” said Recreation Director Robin Riley in a press release. “While it is not business as usual; we are excited to launch these safe small group, instructor-led fitness classes as a positive step toward our goal.”

All programs will be held in the evening. The closest center to this area that will offer programs is White Oak Community Recreation Center at 1700 April Lane.

Interested participants can register now on the ActiveMontgomery website.

In addition, registration for spring virtual and in-person classes and other activities is available now.

Activities listed in the spring guide are available for a wide range of interests including arts and crafts, cooking, music, sports, senior programs, health and wellness and more. In-person activities will be held outdoors, the department said.
