All Maryland residents aged 16 and older are eligible as of today (April 6) for a COVID-19 vaccination at the state’s mass vaccination sites, Gov. Larry Hogan (R) announced yesterday.
In addition, the governor said that all residents 16 and older will be eligible to receive a vaccine from all providers, such as pharmacies and hospitals, as of Monday, April 12.
“We are pleased to announce another acceleration of vaccine eligibility phases much earlier than we anticipated,” said Hogan in a press release. “Getting more people vaccinated as quickly as we possibly can is our absolute best defense against these variants, and it is the best way to win the long war against this deadly virus.”
The state also has added new mass vaccination sites this week, including one at the Germantown campus of Montgomery College that is now fully operational.
The campus is accessible via the county’s Ride On mass transit option. Ride On is operating a free shuttle from the Shady Grove Metro station that will run every 15 minutes from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
This week, the shuttle runs Monday through Friday. Beginning Saturday, April 10, the shuttle will operate seven days a week.
Appointments are required for the Germantown site and residents can preregister for one online.
A second mass vaccination site convenient for county residents who must use mass transit has opened at the Greenbelt Metro Station on Metro’s Green Line.
Residents also can preregister for the mass sites’ required appointments online or by calling the COVID-19 Vaccination Support Center at 1-855-MD-GOVAX (1-855-634-6829).
