MTA Releases New Photos of Purple Line Rail Cars

The Maryland Transit Administration has released new photos of the cars that will make up the light rail vehicles serving the Purple Line.

The interior photo shows the upholstered seats, as well as the wrist straps for standing passengers to hang onto when the LRV is in motion.

The exterior shot shows the painted cars that will make up the LRV. The MTA is planning for 130 cars, according to the Purple Line Twitter feed, which would make up 26 LRVs—five cars per LRV—to serve the 16-mile light rail when it opens.

Ninety-nine cars have been painted and 87 are now being assembled by CAF USA in Elmira, New York.
