Seoul Food DC Announces Winner of 10th Anniversary Contest

Seoul Food DC has announced the winner of the contest the Takoma Park restaurant created to mark its 10th anniversary in business.

The $5,000 award goes to Main Street Pearl, the company said on Twitter, “who offers a space for our youth in Takoma Park. We’d like to support these collective efforts to build a small business.”

Seoul Food DC announced the contest in April, saying, “From our food truck days to our Takoma Park home, it has been an amazing ride over the years, full of laughter, some tears, lots of hard work, and above all, joy and happiness to be doing what we love every day.

“All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our friends and family and our wonderful community. And now, to celebrate our 10th-year anniversary, we want to pay that gift forward with a donation of $5,000 to one local aspiring small restaurant entrepreneur,” the post continued.

Entrants were asked to submit an essay describing the business and vision for the community, along with one vegan recipe and a photo of that dish.

Main Street Pearl, a bubbly bar, noshery and tuck shop, opened in March at 7050 Carroll Ave. in Takoma Park. The shop offers bubble tea, kombucha on tap, mocktails, sparkling wine, beer, hard cider and other drinks at the bubbly bar, various food choices as well as local arts and other products.

In addition, the store features a Tuck Shop managed by local kids that includes a snack cart and additional gift ideas.

Seoul Food DC is open for take-out and outdoor dining at 7302 Carroll Ave.
