Taco Restaurant Coming to the Arrive Silver Spring Building

A veteran restaurateur from the Baltimore area plans to open a taco restaurant in Silver Spring, according to a liquor license application filed with the county.

Carlos Ulloa has applied for a license for Tacosway Mexican Grill, taking over the space once occupied by iStar Coffee at 8777B 1st Ave. in the Arrive Silver Spring apartment building (formerly The Point Silver Spring).

Ulloa has applied for a Class D license, which would permit him to sell beer, wine and liquor on premises from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

However, the application states the restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Ulloa also owns two Mezcal Mexican Grill outlets with locations in Owings Mills and Lutherville (where he was once fined $500 by Baltimore County for selling to a minor).

The hearing for the Tacosway license is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 17.
