The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County is accepting applications from up-and-coming BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) leaders in arts administration for its Emerging Leaders Coaching Cohort program, which will begin in March.
The program provides free one-on-one, professional leadership training to BIPOC arts administrators who are in either the first five years of their career, or in the first five years of a new position in arts management.
While preference will be given to Montgomery County residents and employees, the group also is encouraging anyone who lives and works in Prince George’s County, the District of Columbia, Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax to apply.
Some of the topics that participants may pursue with their coach include (according to the announcement):
- Adapting to organizational change
- Excelling at new roles and responsibilities
- Increasing self-esteem/self-confidence
- Improving work-life balance
- Enhancing career opportunities
- Improving communication skills
- Strengthening relationship-building and management, and
- Amplifying team effectiveness.
AHCMC launched the first group of trainees in September 2021 in a partnership with the International Coaching Federation Metro DC chapter. Participants must commit to eight coaching sessions, approximately two per month. The session will be limited to 15 participants.
