Kusshi Ko Applies for Beer, Wine License

Kusshi Ko has applied for a beer and wine license, as the new restaurant prepares for an upcoming opening in Downtown Silver Spring.

A liquor board hearing on Kusshi Ko’s application is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on May 5th, according to signage posted at the location.

Owner Wesley Yao — who also owns Hanaro Sushi in Bethesda, Poke Dojo in Bethesda, and Kusshi Sushi in North Bethesda — said that the quick-service restaurant concept will serve Donburi (rice bowls), ramen, poke, and sushi rolls, according to reports.

An opening timetable has not been announced, however, buildout is currently underway.

Kusshi Ko is located in the former home of Gusto Farm to Street at 8512 Fenton St. in the Downtown Silver Spring development. Gusto, which opened its Downtown Silver Spring location in 2015, permanently closed in January of last year, citing “the ongoing challenges COVID-19 has presented us and the restaurant industry at large.” The sole remaining location in Chantilly, Va. was rebranded to Farmtruck Pizza & Greens in January.
