GSSCC Announces President and CEO Redicker to Retire Next Year

Jane Redicker, president and CEO of the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce for the last 17 years, will retire, effective Jan. 31, 2023, the chamber announced.

“For more than 17 years, Jane Redicker has been the ever-present face of and relentless advocate for the Silver Spring small business community that is the vast majority of our membership,” Michael McCartin, current GSSCC chair and owner of Joseph W. McCartin Insurance, said in a press release.  “Her extraordinarily personal commitment to the success of our member companies, together with her skillful leadership and management of our chamber, will be missed—and most certainly a challenge to replace.”

During Redicker’s tenure, the Chmamber grew as was an effective advocate for the expansion of its Arts & Entertainment District to bring in The Fillmore music hall; the development of the Silver Spring Civic Building and Veterans Plaza and the iconic Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library (Silver Spring Library); the groundbreaking of and progress of the Purple Line; and collaboration with other Montgomery County-based chambers and business groups, among other interests, according to the release.

In a message to chamber members, Redicker wrote, “This has been one of the most rewarding jobs of my career.  Serving you and greater Silver Spring has indeed been an honor.”

Redicker also spearheaded the creation of “Discover the Taste of Silver Spring” and the “SchmoozaPalooza,” events that former GSSCC Chairman Stewart Zemil, COO of Apex Home Loans, said were instrumental in producing “immeasurable business contacts, business, and revenue.”

Prior to joining the chamber, Redicker served from 1995 to 1998 as the first executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, China. Earlier, she had a career in communications and public relations.

The GSSCC leadership has formed a search committee to find Redicker’s replacement and is accepting letters of interest and resumes at [email protected].
