After a two-year hiatus, Silver Spring Wings has finally reopened at its new home.
The restaurant reopened yesterday at its new location at 11335 Elkin St. in the Wheaton Urban District.
Silver Spring Wings originally opened in May 2020 and closed in October of the same year, seemingly a victim of its own success. “Our landlord wouldn’t renew our lease and didn’t want us doing takeout anymore,” owner Evan Walton said to the Source that November.
The restaurant received critical praise during its original run. Washington City Paper’s Sabrina Medora sang the wing spot’s praises in the alt-weekly’s August 2020 article, These Are the Neighborhood Bars and Restaurants We’ve Relied on During the Pandemic: “Last time we got Silver Spring Wings, my husband and I feasted on leftovers for two days with unwavering enthusiasm. We’ve since recommended these wings to everyone we know. Next time you’re worrying about what to cook, pay Walton a visit in Silver Spring. He also does limited deliveries in the area. Don’t skip the coleslaw.”
Silver Spring Wings’ operating hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
