Local governments and agencies have announced closings and other changes for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 24.
County offices and libraries will be closed, as will all county COVID-19 vaccination and testing clinics, and Montgomery County 311 will not be operating.
Alcohol Beverage Services will be open from 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Wednesday and closed Thanksgiving Day.
In Takoma Park, city offices and facilities, including the library and computer center, will be closed for the entire holiday weekend. Police administrative offices, will close both Thursday and Friday, though police emergency services will be available.
All state offices and courts will be closed, as will Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations. VEIP self-serve kiosks will be operating.
Ride On and Flash will operate on a Sunday schedule. Ride on extra and Flex will not be operating. Both commuter stores, Silver Spring and mobile, will be closed.
Metrorail will run on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day from 7 a.m. to midnight. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at Metro-operated facilities. On Friday, Nov. 25, rail service will operate on a regular weekday schedule with normal fare and parking rates in effect.
Metro bus will run on a Sunday schedule on Thursday and normal weekday services offered on Friday, Nov. 25. Paratransit service will operate during the same hours as Metrorail and Metrobus. Subscription trips will be cancelled on Thanksgiving Day unless MetroAccess customers specifically request travel on the holiday.
County-provided trash and recycling collections will not be made on Thursday, Nov. 24. Collections normally scheduled for Thursday and Friday will slide to one day later. The Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed.
The county’s aquatic center will be closed, while community and recreation centers will close Thursday through Sunday. Nov. 27.
Most Montgomery Parks facilities and programs will be closed, some on both Thursday and Friday. Complete information is available online.
