United Therapeutics Named One of America’s Most Responsible Companies

Newsweek has named downtown Silver Spring-based United Therapeutics one of America’s Most Responsible Companies for 2023.

The award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., a world-leading statistics portal and provider of industry rankings. A list of the 500 most responsible companies in the United States, spanning 14 industries, was announced Wednesday and can be found on the Newsweek website. United Therapeutics is ranked #180 overall, the company is ranked #21 in the Health Care & Life Sciences industry.

Based on publicly available key performance indicators derived from Corporate Social Responsibility Reports and Sustainability Reports, in addition to an independent survey that asked U.S. citizens about their perception of corporate social responsibility activities, America’s Most Responsible Companies were selected. An independent survey asked U.S. citizens about their perception of the company’s activities related to corporate social responsibility and the key performance indicators focused on the company’s performance in the areas of environmental, social, and corporate governance.

“Our continued inclusion on the America’s Most Responsible Companies list reflects our longstanding philosophy of helping our patients live better lives while growing sustainably for all stakeholders,” said Martine Rothblatt, Ph.D., Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of United Therapeutics in a press release. “We’re honored to again be recognized by Newsweek and Statista.”

United Therapeutics’ 2022 Corporate Responsibility and Public Benefit Report can be found at corporateresponsibility.unither.com. UT converted to a public benefit corporation last year, the first PBC conversion of a public biotech or pharmaceutical company.
