Four Arrested, Charged With Colony Rd. Homicide

Detectives from the county’s Major Crimes Division have arrested four men in connection with a homicide that occurred on November 9 in the 100 block of Colony Road.

19-year-old Junior Francisco Del-Cid, 23-year-old Elmer Lopez-Cortez, 24-year-old Jonathan Adonys Leon-Chacon, and 18-year-old Elvin Manuel Guzman-Machato have been charged with the fatal shooting.

At approximately 3:58 a.m. on November 9, officers from the 3rd district responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered three adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. The two victims were transported to area hospitals in serious but stable condition, MCPD said in a press release.

Willians Anderson Alberto Cruz, the third male, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a wooded area behind the 100 block of Colony Rd. Although Montgomery County Police officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel immediately performed life-saving measures, Alberto Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene.  

A fourth male victim was located uninjured at the scene.  

During the course of their investigation, detectives identified Del-Cid of Takoma Park, Lopez-Cortez of Silver Spring, Leon-Chacon of Silver Spring, and Guzman-Machato of Silver Spring as suspects.  

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Leon-Chacon on December 1, charging him with accessory after the fact to murder in the first degree and three counts of accessory after the fact to attempted murder in the first degree.  

Del-Cid and Lopez-Cortez were arrested on December 2 on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and the use of a firearm in a violent crime.  

A warrant was obtained on December 6 charging Guzman-Machato with accessory after the fact to murder in the first degree as well as three counts of accessory after the fact to attempted murder in the first degree.

All suspects are currently being held in custody.
