Black Lion Café to Open Jan. 2 in Downtown Silver Spring

Black Lion Café will open at the Fenton Silver Spring apartment complex at 8240 Fenton St. in downtown Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 2, according to a post on the café’s Instagram account.

The Rockville-based coffee shop and roaster had originally planned for a November 1 opening but had been postponed due to a delay in the café’s final inspection, a representative said to the Source in November.

The café, owned by Emmanuel Manoles, specializes in coffees from three regions in Ethiopia—Sidama, Harrar, and Yirgacheffe, all roasted in small batches in-house, according to the café’s website.

In addition to coffee and assorted teas, the restaurant offers espresso drinks, smoothies, and frapps, along with vegan cakes and pastries. Patrons can also order coffee beans.

Black Lion Café is located adjacent to The Breakfast Club, which is set to open this Thursday at the Fenton Silver Spring apartment complex.
