Police Seeking Suspect in Series of Bank Robberies

Detectives from the county’s Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a series of bank robberies that began on January 18, 2022.

According to an MCPD press release, the robberies occurred at the following locations:

  • Sandy Spring Bank, located in the 3500 block of Spencerville Rd. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 3:18 p.m.
  • M&T Bank in the 12200 block of Tech Rd., on Friday, February 18, 2022, at approximately 3:20 p.m.
  • Capital One Bank, located in the 13300 block of New Hampshire Ave. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at approximately 10:05 a.m.
  • M&T Bank in the 12200 block of Tech Rd. on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at approximately 3:20 p.m.

In each robbery, the suspect passed a handwritten note stating that he had a gun and a bomb and demanded cash.

The suspect is described as a Black male between 5 feet, 7 inches to 6 feet tall. He weighs approximately 160 to 190 pounds and wore a hooded jacket, surgical mask, and gloves during the robberies.
