Gulf Gas Station Renovation, Conversion to Amoco Underway

The renovation of the Gulf gas station located at 8600 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring to become an Amoco station is well underway.

Previous reports indicated the station was set to become an Exxon, but this no longer seems to be the case.

In 2016, preliminary plans were submitted to the Montgomery County Planning Board for a 173-room hotel with approximately 4,200 square feet of ground-level retail. Following the closure of the gas station in 2018, the station reopened shortly thereafter, seemingly putting an end to the hotel development project.

The Halal Brothers food truck stationed at the site remains open.
