A dog was rescued safely from a Takoma Park home Wednesday after a tree fell onto the roof and crashed into it.
The incident happened in the 6900 block of Cherry Ave., near Sligo Creek Parkway, according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer.
According to Piringer, the dog was located in a crate, which shielded and protected the dog from injury caused by the damage from the tree into the roof.
There was no one at home at the time. A substantial amount of damage has been sustained to the property, and the house has therefore been declared unsafe to occupy, Piringer said.
