Rockville Man Charged in Arrive Silver Spring Apartment Burglary

Montgomery County Police say that they have charged a Rockville man in connection with a burglary that he committed while county firefighters were battling a three-alarm fire at the Arrive Silver Spring apartment complex in downtown Silver Spring.

At approximately 6 a.m. on Feb. 18, Montgomery County Police and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the Arrive Silver Spring complex in the 8700 block of Georgia Ave. for a three-alarm fire in progress, according to an MCPD press release.

In order to ensure the safety of all occupants, firefighters evacuated the building and forced entry into several apartments by breaking locks and doors.

Officers of the Third District were notified of a suspicious person while on scene. It was observed that the suspect exited and re-entered the apartment building, hiding a Sony PlayStation 5.

Upon returning to the apartment building, the victim informed police that his apartment had been burglarized and a Sony PlayStation 5 had been stolen.

As a result of the investigation, officers identified 43-year-old Rasheed Duvall of Rockville as the suspect. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Duvall’s vehicle and discovered the PlayStation inside.

Duvall was arrested on Feb. 24 and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with first-degree burglary and theft of $100 to under $1,500. He is being held without bond, MCPD said.
