Koité Grill Opens New Food Trailer: Report

Senegalese restaurant Koité Grill has opened a new food trailer, according to a report from The MoCo Show.

A brother-and-sister team from the Koité family will operate the food trailer at 2030 West Virginia Ave. NE in the District from Thursday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. They will also be at the RFK Stadium Farmers Market on Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

“We offer the best grilled lamb in the DMV. The food trailer serves the lamb, the goat, and chicken. We also have salmon, steaks, shrimp, kabobs, and lamb chops.”

Originally established in College Park in 2016, Koité Grill expanded to downtown Silver Spring in 2020, opening in the former home of Abol Ethiopian Restaurant at 8626 Colesville Road. Koité Grill’s menu features Senegalese favorites and daily specials, as well as burgers, wraps, and salads. According to Yelp, their Dibi is quite popular, described on their menu as “House special juicy tender charcoal grill lamb, goat or chicken, with grilled seasoned onions and a dash of special Dijon hot pepper sauce.”

According to Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema, Koité Grill was one of his “7 Favorite Places to Eat Right Now” in 2021, and Tim Carman has also commended the restaurant, calling Koité Grill “standout Senegalese cooking [that] builds on char, smoke, and butchery,” and also named it among the area’s Best Casual Restaurants of 2021.
