La Casita Pupuseria & Market will close its Germantown location at the end of July, according to a report from The MoCo Show.
The closure of the restaurant at 18058 Mateny Rd., which opened in 2008, was attributed to a breakdown in lease negotiations, as well as plans to open a new location in Laurel in the fall.
La Casita originally opened in the Long Branch neighborhood of Silver Spring in 2002 and has since expanded to locations in Gaithersburg, the La Cosecha food hall at Union Market, and Nationals Park, as well as a food truck. Washington Post food critic Tim Carman named the restaurant “One of the Best Places to Get Breakfast in the Middle of the Afternoon” in 2021.
