Police: Teens Arrested for Armed Carjacking, Robbery

Montgomery County Police say that three teens have been arrested in connection with an armed carjacking and robbery that occurred on June 21 in Silver Spring.

Two of the three teens, aged 13, 16, and 17, have been charged as adults.

A preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that the adult victim was driving on Wayne Ave. when he noticed a black Jeep Grand Cherokee following him. As soon as the victim parked at his residence, the Jeep drove away. The Jeep then returned and blocked the victim’s vehicle. The victim was getting out of the Jeep when five to six unknown Black males, wearing dark clothing and masks, got out, pointed a gun at him, and demanded his property and cellphone password. As the victim fled, one of the suspects punched him in the face and followed him. The suspects then left in the victim’s black Infiniti FX35 and Jeep.

According to a press release issued by the MCPD, detectives identified three individuals as suspects during the investigation.

The 13-year-old was charged and referred to the county’s Department of Juvenile Services.

An arrest warrant was obtained and the 16-year-old was arrested and charged with armed carjacking and armed robbery as an adult. Currently, he is being held in Washington, D.C. on unrelated charges.

The 17-year-old is in the county’s Central Processing Unit on charges of armed criminal behavior and armed robbery as an adult.
