Construction is underway at the Solaire Social food hall and Prime Coffee & Bakery.
We reported in June that construction had finally begun at Solaire Social, the first of two food halls announced for downtown Silver Spring. Springfield, Va.-based contractor ADI Construction is building the 11-vendor food hall, curated by Chef Akhtar Nawab of Hospitality HQ.
Originally scheduled to open in Spring 2023, Solaire Social is expected to open at the Solaire 8200 Dixon apartment building next year, after Commas at Ellsworth Place.
Meanwhile, Prime Coffee & Bakery is also under construction. Earlier this year, we reported that the coffee shop would occupy an empty space on the ground floor of the Thayer & Spring apartments, next to the post office. According to plans, the outlet will seat 49 people. The coffee shop is a trade name for Dream Line International LLC, a coffee roaster and importer based in Laurel. It’s unclear from the documents if the coffee will be roasted on-site or elsewhere.
There is a budget of $500,000 for the build-out; a potential opening date has not been given. The Source will update as more information becomes available.
