Downtown Silver Spring, Zinnia to Host Holiday Markets

Both Downtown Silver Spring and Zinnia will host holiday markets on Saturday, December 16.

The Holiday Artisan Market, curated by Urban Village Markets, will showcase a selected group of artisans, along with live music and dining choices from Downtown Silver Spring restaurants.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Ellsworth Drive, between Georgia Ave. and Fenton Street in Downtown Silver Spring.

Additionally, the third annual Holiday Pop-Up & Gift Market at Zinnia will take place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will showcase a craft market with local artisans, s’more roasting kits, warm drinks, food specials, a visit from Santa, and more.

Zinnia opened in October 2021 in the former home of Mrs. K’s Toll House at the intersection of Colesville Rd. and Dale Drive in Silver Spring. Mrs. K’s closed and was offered for lease in 2020 after marking 90 years in business.

The Restaurant at Zinnia opened last year under the direction of former Republic chef Danny Wells, bringing together the gardens, the tavern, and the recently opened café to offer customers a variety of dining options. Republic, which Wells opened in Takoma Park in 2013, closed last September after a nearly ten-year run and was replaced by Motorkat in May of this year.
