Montgomery Blair High School Advances to National Science Bowl Finals

Montgomery Blair High School won the regional competition for the 2024 National Science Bowl, securing a place in the NSB national finals this spring, according to an MCPS announcement.

The MoCo Show reports that the NSB, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, is a highly anticipated event that attracts thousands of middle and high school students from across the country. Participants take part in a rapid question-and-answer format, addressing technical problems and inquiries covering various science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth and space sciences, physics, and math.

Notably, the top two middle and high school teams stand to secure $5,000 for their school’s math and science departments. Additionally, other schools placing in the top 16 in the national finals will receive $1,000 for their schools’ science departments. The victorious teams from each qualifying regional competition are set to vie for top honors in the national finals to be held in Washington, D.C., in April, with all expenses covered.
