Washington City Paper Spotlights Koma Café and Muối Tiêu’s Unique Offerings

Takoma Park’s restaurant scene continues to shine with the recent openings of Koma Café and Muối Tiêu, drawing attention from both local and national publications like Washington City Paper.

Koma Café, situated at 8006 Flower Ave., is the brainchild of chef-owner Brad Feickert, known for his involvement in establishments like Soko and Zinnia. The all-day café offers a diverse menu, serving breakfast and lunch until 4 p.m., boasting dishes like smoothies, grain bowls, various toasts, and a selection of pastries from Pluma by Bluebird Bakery. Transitioning into the evening, Koma Café offers shareable plates during happy hour, followed by a lineup of pizzas and plates of pasta made with high-quality ingredients and artisanal techniques.

Muối Tiêu, which translates to “salt and pepper” in Vietnamese, has found its new home in the former location of Mark’s Kitchen at 7006 Carroll Ave. Reviewed in The Washington Post earlier this month, this woman-owned and family-run establishment started as a food truck in 2022 before expanding into a brick-and-mortar restaurant in January. The menu at Muối Tiêu features traditional Vietnamese dishes such as bánh mì, summer rolls, and salads, along with new comfort food offerings like bún and bánh xèo. The restaurant also houses a market section offering Asian pantry items and prepared goods.

Both Koma Café and Muối Tiêu have received positive feedback for their culinary offerings and welcoming atmospheres, adding to the vibrant dining landscape of Takoma Park.
