Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Collision with Ride On Bus in Downtown Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police say that they are investigating a fatal collision that occurred between a Ride On bus and a pedestrian in downtown Silver Spring early Saturday morning.

Early on Saturday at around 2 a.m., officers from the police department’s 3rd District and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service crews responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Second Avenue and Colesville Road.

A police spokesperson said that the investigation revealed that a Ride On bus and an adult male pedestrian collided for reasons still under investigation.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

MCPD said they are not describing the incident as a hit-and-run, as the investigation is ongoing. MCPD will release a formal news release, including the deceased individual’s name, once more information becomes available and the next of kin has been notified.
