The Takoma Park Folk Festival is seeking musicians, food vendors, craft vendors, and nonprofit organizations for its 45th annual celebration on Sept. 8.
Applications are now open online. Deadlines are as follows:
- Musicians – June 1
- Craft vendors – June 15
- Food vendors – July 1
- Community tables – Aug. 1
“We have so much talent in our region and it’s wonderful to be able to showcase that at a free event,” Robin Stearn, festival chair, said. “You’ll see new performers and possibly old favorites, and it’s so much more than music.”
The free festival features music from around the world, children’s activities, a crafts show, international cuisines and local vendors. Listen to old-time fiddle or Afro-Latin beats, enjoy summer treats and shop for handcrafted items, such as jewelry, quilts and pottery.
Volunteers, beneficiary groups, donors and sponsors are also encouraged to apply.
“The festival is all volunteer run, from the planning committee to the musicians and the festival day helpers,” Candice Broda, publicity chair, said. “It’s truly a community effort.”
The festival will be held rain or shine on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Takoma Park Middle School, where attendees can enjoy music across six stages.
