Downtown Silver Spring Garage Hit by 22 Vehicle Break-Ins; Suspect Images Released

Montgomery County Police are asking for help identifying three suspects connected to 22 vehicle break-ins at a parking garage in downtown Silver Spring earlier this month.

Officers received a call at around 5:19 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, reporting that approximately 22 vehicles had been broken into at a parking garage in the 1100 block of Bonifant Street. According to a press release, the suspects forced entry and ransacked some of the vehicles before they left the scene.

The break-ins happened three days after an attempted car theft at the Kennett Street Garage. A week earlier, police had released footage showing two suspects stealing car keys from the locker room at a nearby Planet Fitness on Wayne Ave., stealing a car and using the victim’s credit card to make purchases.

MCPD described the three suspects as Black males in their late teens. One was wearing a brown jacket, grey pants, and green shoes and was riding a white motor scooter. Another was dressed entirely in black clothing. The third was wearing a grey sweatshirt, black pants, and black and white shoes.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at crimesolversmcmd.org or (866) 411-8477. All tips can be provided anonymously, and information that leads to an arrest may qualify for a reward of up to $10,000.
