SkyPoint FCU, AFI Silver Theatre to Host PBS ‘Opportunity Knock$’ Season Finale Party

Germantown-based SkyPoint Federal Credit Union will host a season finale party for the PBS reality TV series Opportunity Knock$ on Wednesday, July 24, at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in downtown Silver Spring.

Opportunity Knock$, which has garnered multiple awards, including the Platinum Viddy Award for Education and the Silver Global Anthem Award for mission-driven work, documented a D.C. couple’s journey with financial coach Jean Chatzky in the show’s second season.

According to a press release, SkyPoint was featured as the “chosen financial partner for an area family seeking to overcome financial challenges and achieve their dreams.”

“Coaching a wonderful DMV couple through this season of Opportunity Knock$ was a huge pleasure,” Chatzky, who also hosts the HerMoney Podcast, said in April. “I can’t wait until viewers get to see how much progress they’ve made — with the incredible help of SkyPoint.”

SkyPoint was chosen by the show because it is the only Community Development Financial Institution (CFDI) in Montgomery County and because of its “unique commitment to helping its members and the communities it serves gain access to the financial services needed to achieve financial independence and prosper,” according to the credit union, which has branches in Germantown, Rockville, and the Blair Office Building in downtown Silver Spring.

“At SkyPoint, we are dedicated to empowering our members throughout every stage of their financial journey,” SkyPoint CEO Carla Decker said. “Witnessing the family achieve their goals is a true testament to the power of financial education and access to the right resources. We invite you to join us as we celebrate their journey and learn more about how SkyPoint can help you achieve your financial goals.”

Opportunity Knock$ is produced by the Rochester, N.Y. PBS affiliate WXXI-TV.
