The Daily Dish, which celebrated its 15th anniversary this summer, has introduced two new weekly specials to commemorate Silver Spring’s top ranking on this year’s Fortune Magazine list of Best Places to Live for Families.
According to Fortune, Silver Spring is notable for its diverse population, wide range of dining options, proximity to Sligo Creek Park and Rock Creek Trail, and seasonal outdoor ice skating rink.
Silver Spring, which excels in healthcare, education, affordability, and resources for seniors, also has the highest Community Well-Being Index score from Sharecare, which analyzes over 600 health risk factors in communities across the U.S., on the list at 85 out of 100, Fortune said.
“Fortune has crowned Silver Spring the #1 Best Place to Live for Families in 2024, and The Daily Dish is celebrating this remarkable honor with the community,” the restaurant said in a press release. “The Daily Dish Neighborhood Bistro & Bar, a proud member of this vibrant community since 2009, is introducing two exciting summer specials designed to enhance weekdays and create memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike.”
On Burger & Beer Mondays, from 4:30 to 9 p.m., guests can order the Angus Beef Bistro Burger, which is served on a freshly baked brioche bun with a choice of side: a house salad, potato wedges, or coleslaw. The burger is paired with a 16-ounce draft craft beer for $20; various add-ons are available.
The beer options on tap rotate regularly and showcase brews from area breweries, including 7 Locks Brewing, Silver Branch Brewing Company, Brookville Beer Farm, Waredaca Brewing Company, and Union Craft Brewing.
For Wine Wednesdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., guests can enjoy 50 percent off a select featured bottle of wine, with the selection rotating weekly to offer a new experience each time. For updates on the featured wine and suggested pairings, guests are encouraged to follow The Daily Dish on social media at @thedailydishrestaurant and visit the restaurant’s website.
The Daily Dish was recently renovated for its 15th anniversary, including a revamped menu and branding to enhance the dining experience, and now seats 68 people indoors and 34 on the outdoor patio. “We recognize that staying open for 15 years is not something afforded to everyone, and we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support,” owner Jerry Hollinger said in June.
The restaurant has received acclaim from critics and guests over the years, winning RAMMY Awards for Favorite Gathering Place in 2018, Everyday Casual Brunch in 2015, and a finalist for Casual Restaurant of the Year in 2017. Bethesda Magazine referred to them as “The Restaurant Dream Team.” Hollinger also owns and operates The Dish & Dram, which opened in Kensington in 2016, and J. Hollinger’s Waterman’s Chophouse, which opened in downtown Silver Spring in 2022.
The Daily Dish is located at 8301 Grubb Rd. and is open for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and daily happy hour.
