17-Year-Old Charged With Attempted Murder in February Hartford Ave. Shooting

Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged an unidentified 17-year-old male in connection with a shooting that took place last February in the 8100 block of Hartford Ave. in East Silver Spring.

The police investigation revealed that an adult male and his 17-year-old son were moving their belongings from one vehicle to another when four suspects got out of a Honda Civic, approached them, and tried to steal the adult victim’s car, leading to a physical altercation between the suspects and the victims.

The adult victim was shot in the head and abdomen during the confrontation, and the suspects left the scene in the Honda after the altercation. The shooting victim was treated and released from an area hospital, MCPD said in a press release issued Thursday.

After identifying the 17-year-old as one of the suspects involved in the shooting, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

On August 9th, the suspect was moved to the Montgomery County Processing Unit from a Prince George’s County detention center, where he was held on unrelated charges. He was served with the arrest warrant and is currently held without bond.
