Police Probe Shooting Near Holiday Inn Express in Downtown Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police are currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Labor Day in downtown Silver Spring.

Police said in a statement issued Monday afternoon that 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service personnel responded to the 8000 block of 13th Street in downtown Silver Spring at approximately 9:44 a.m. for a report of one-down.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in an alley with gunshot wounds, and despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. WJLA reported that police tape had blocked off part of the Holiday Inn Express.

There is no suspect in custody at this time, police said.
