Forest Estates Farmers Market Kicks Off Fall Season This Sunday

After a summer hiatus, the Forest Estates Farmers Market will reopen for the fall season on Sunday, September 15.

The county’s first — and until recently — only farmers market on Montgomery Parks land will be open on September 15 and 29, and the first and third Sundays in October and November from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., operating bi-weekly until Thanksgiving.

According to market manager Sandra Marquardt, this year’s vendors include Bump ‘n Grind CoffeeThe Mixing Bowl BakeryPizzeria CoCo, and Benchmark Sharpening.

Common Root Farm, located near Olney, will supply seasonal produce and offer local weekly CSA delivery.

A brief welcoming ceremony will be held at the market’s opening with Montgomery Parks Director Miti Figueredo, Maryland State Senator Jeff Waldstreicher, Delegates Emily Shetty, Aaron Kaufman and Jared Solomon, and Montgomery County Councilmembers Natali Fani-Gonzalez, Evan Glass, and Laurie-Anne Sayles.

Bike Werks, a mobile bike repair shop, will be available on Sunday to prepare bikes for the fall season, and nonperishable food and reusable shopping bags will be accepted for donation to Shepherd’s Table.

The Forest Estates Farmers Market will be held on September 15 and 29, October 13 and 27, and November 10 and 24 in the General Getty Neighborhood Park parking lot at 10000 Woodland Drive. More information is available at forestestates.org.
