Hanover-based urban lifestyle retailer DTLR has opened a new store inside the Ellsworth Place mall in downtown Silver Spring.
The location was previously home to Shoe City, which filed for bankruptcy and closed all 39 stores last year.
DTLR, founded as Downtown Locker Room in 1982, specializes in urban fashion and footwear. Acquired by the U.K.’s JD Sports Fashion plc in 2021 for $360 million, DTLR now operates nearly 250 stores across 19 states and offers a wide range of athletic apparel and sneakers.
The new store joins Elegant Look, a formalwear boutique that opened in July, along with the upcoming Commas food hall, which is expected to open in early 2025.
DTLR is on Level 2 of Ellsworth Place, next to Lids and Foot Locker. The store is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Online shopping is available at dtlr.com.
