Headlines Hair Designers Ceases Operations in Downtown Silver Spring

Headlines Hair Designers has permanently closed its doors in downtown Silver Spring after 48 years of operation.

The hair salon in the Arrive Silver Spring apartment building at 8740 Georgia Ave. opened in 1976 and seems to have closed abruptly this week.

“I had an appointment for next Wednesday and my stylist called me yesterday to see if I’d reschedule at their new place of employment in Rockville,” reader Bruce L. said to the Source via email this morning.

Cosmetologist and realtor Cornelius Payne acquired the salon last year.

An email sent to salon clients on Thursday states:

Headlines Hair Designers has made the difficult decision to close its beloved salon after serving the community for forty years. This decision was not made lightly, and the salon’s family wants to express its deepest gratitude to each and every one of its loyal and supportive clients who have made this journey truly special.
