Police Seek Suspect in Capital One Bank ATM Stabbing in Takoma Park

Takoma Park Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect connected to a stabbing incident that occurred at a Capital One Bank ATM on Monday evening.

Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy reported that officers responded to a knife assault at the Capital One Bank parking lot on University Blvd. East around 6:40 p.m. on December 23.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with a stab wound to his hand.

The victim reported that around 6:25 p.m. while having a friendly conversation near the bank’s ATM, he was attacked by an unknown male assailant. The suspect, a Hispanic male with a clean-shaven face wearing a black hoodie, approached the victim from behind and inflicted a deep knife wound.

Plevy said that the suspect was not known to the victim, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Officers searched the area but could not find the suspect, who is facing first- and second-degree assault charges.
