The Spring Street Bridge in downtown Silver Spring will remain closed through spring due to ongoing construction work for the Maryland Purple Line.
According to Purple Line officials, crews will finish demolishing the bridge abutments and building the replacement bridge during the extended closure.
The Spring Street Bridge in Silver Spring will be closed through spring 2025. During this time, crews will finish the demolition of the bridge abutments and the construction of the new bridge. The foundation work includes daytime piling operations for the bridge foundations. The detour attached will be implemented during the closure. Please follow on-site signage. This operation will often require overnight work to meet the schedule and to accommodate CSX trains.
Traffic and Ride On bus route detours implemented since last June will remain in effect.
