GW Immediate & Primary Care Clinic to Close this Weekend

The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates will close its GW Immediate & Primary Care location at 8484 Georgia Ave. effective April 20, according to a letter from its medical director.

The clinic, formerly known as Metro Immediate & Primary Care (whose sign is still on the building), was acquired by GWMFA in April 2015.

“The GW Medical Faculty Associates made the decision to close its Silver Spring Immediate and Primary Care location after a careful look at the market and the sustainability of the practice in that location (e.g. the exit of some major businesses like Discovery in the area),” according to a statement emailed to the Source by Barbara Porter, the group’s media director.

“Patients who sought care at the Silver Spring location have been notified of the closure and the staff is working to assist patients in transitioning their care to other providers,” Porter wrote.

GWMFA will continue to operate Immediate & Primary Care facilities on Rhode Island Avenue, in Cleveland Park and at McPherson Square, she said.

In her letter to patients, Dr. Maria Portela Martinez wrote, “If you do choose to seek care elsewhere, you may request a copy of your records by completing the Authorization to Disclose Protected Health Information (PHI) form found on: gwdocs.com/medical-records.”

Patients may also call 202.544.7580 with questions or to schedule an appointment at one of the other three clinics.
