Ellsworth Drive to Reopen for Pedestrians May 10

Ellsworth Drive will be reopened as a pedestrian-friendly area with restricted traffic on May 10, officials with Downtown Silver Spring announced today (April 27). The street was opened to vehicles early in the pandemic to accommodate curbside pickup for restaurants and retailers faced with capacity restrictions and regulations limiting indoor dining.

Main Street Pearl to Hold Grand Opening Friday in Takoma Park

Main Street Pearl, which advertises itself as a bubbly bar, noshery and tuck shop, will have its grand opening from 3–7 p.m. Friday, March 12 at 7050 Carroll Ave. in Takoma Park. The women-owned space offers bubble tea, kombucha on tap, mocktails, sparkling wine, beer, hard cider and other drinks at the bubbly bar.

Club Pilates, a national boutique fitness studio, is now open at 956 Thayer Ave., owner Misbah Shafi told the Source. Originally set to open in April 2020, “we were unable to open during Covid due to various reasons/delays…so we tried to wait it out as much as possible. But FINALLY we are open!” Shafi said in an email.

Sweet Sweet Kitchen, which specializes in the cuisines of Jamaica and Sierra Leone, is coming to 904 Bonifant Street in the space formerly occupied by Khyber Kitchen. The company also operates a food truck and offers catering services.

Dog Haus Biergarten to Open in Downtown Silver Spring

Dog Haus Biergarten will open in Downtown Silver Spring, according to web reports confirmed by Laurie Yankowski, regional director, marketing for The Peterson Cos. The restaurant, which specializes in gourmet hot dogs, sausages and burgers, will be located at 933 Ellsworth Dr. in the space formerly occupied by Lebanese Taverna, which moved to 8535 Fenton Street.
