The chef/owner of El Sapo Cuban Social Club has been sued for nearly $150,000 in a contract case, according to documents filed in the Montgomery County Circuit Court. As first reported Friday by Washington City Paper, JSV LLC, a Virginia-based design/build contractor, sued Raynold Mendizábal for $147,408 last March.

Mandalay Plans Move to Georgia Avenue in D.C.

Mandalay Restaurant and Café will move from its Bonifant Street location to Georgia Avenue in Washington, D.C., according to an announcement on the outlet’s Facebook page. The owner of a vape and hookah lounge in Montgomery Hills has applied for a liquor license and indicated her intent to convert the space into a sports bar, according to documents filed with the county Board of License Commissioners. If granted, beer, wine and liquor could be sold on premises only from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Sunday, and Friday and Saturday to 3 a.m.
