“Abdication!” will premiere at the Silver Spring Stage on Friday, January 26, and will run until February 11. “Blue Stockings” runs at Silver Spring Stage from Oct. 27 through Nov. 12. Based on historical events, the play explores how women sought equal college educational access and recognition in England in the 1890s — issues that continue today on behalf of underrepresented groups in the United States.
“Hells Bottom” VFW in Takoma Park will be the site of the Takoma Foundation’s Beerfest on Sunday, October 8, from 3-7 p.m.
The Takoma Park Folk Festival will be held on Sunday, September 10 at Takoma Park Middle School. The free festival runs from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with stage performances from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
