The Shell Shack Seafood will be relocating to Silver Spring, according to a post on the outlet’s Instagram account. The Caribbean-infused seafood truck will be located near Millennium Salon at 920 Gist Avenue in the South Silver Spring neighborhood, opening on Saturday, May 1 at 12 p.m. The truck is relocating from the Savor Food Hall in Brentwood, which changed ownership and concept last year.

The street was opened to vehicles early in the pandemic to accommodate curbside pickup for restaurants and retailers faced with capacity restrictions and regulations limiting indoor dining.

DNA Evidence Leads to Arrest in 2003 Silver Spring Home Invasion Robbery

DNA evidence from a sock has led to the arrest by county police of a suspect in a 2003 home invasion robbery in Silver Spring. Officers with the Major Crimes Division arrested and charged Stacy Howard Moore, age 48, of the 3400 block of 55th Avenue in Hyattsville in connection with the incident, which occurred on January 22, 2003 in an apartment in the 9100 block of Piney Branch Road.

Blumen Lumen Kinetic Art Now Operational, Open to Public

Blumen Lumen, the kinetic art installation at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road, is now fully operational and the site is open to the public. The installation from the Foldhaus art collective is a 25-foot tall group of “flowers” that changes colors and opens and closes based on weather information from the National Weather Service, which is connected to the art’s controlling software.
