Takoma Park Begins Sidewalk Poetry Installation

The City of Takoma Park has begun the installation of sidewalks featuring poetry from local residents, as part of an interactive public art project organized by the City’s Arts and Humanities Division. The poems were chosen in a contest held earlier this year, with the winners receiving a $100 award in addition to their poetry stamped in sidewalks around Takoma Park.

Seoul Food DC Announces Winner of 10th Anniversary Contest

Seoul Food DC has announced the winner of the contest the Takoma Park restaurant created to mark its 10th anniversary in business. The $5,000 award goes to Main Street Pearl, the company said on Twitter, “who offers a space for our youth in Takoma Park. We’d like to support these collective efforts to build a small business.”

Takoma Park Police to Mark National Night Out Tuesday

The Takoma Park Police Department will mark National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Piney Branch Elementary School, 7510 Maple Ave., according to a community advisory. The event will run from 6–9 p.m. and feature McGruff the Crime Dog along with a display of police vehicles and Maryland National Park Police horses.

Little Loft to Reopen, Rebrand as The Loft Collective

The Little Loft in Takoma Park will reopen and rebrand as The Loft Collective in its original location with a grand reopening planned for Aug. 29. The Loft, founded in 2012 by Lia Salza, is a children’s art studio and community space with classes and aftercare programs for children ages 2-12 from Takoma Park and Piney Branch elementary schools.
