    Lineup

Sureni Weerasekera is a Sri Lankan-born, San Diego-raised, & New York-based stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. She is known for her lighthearted, conversational banter to her ruthless, dark jabs. She has performed at San Francisco Sketchfest, Desi Comedy Festival, Oakland Comedy Festival, San Francisco Pride Festival and recently headlined New York Comedy Festival. Sureni is a paid regular at San Francisco Punchline Comedy Club, Cobb’s Comedy Club, Sacramento Punchline Comedy Club, Alameda Comedy Club, and more. She recently opened for Hari Kondabolu, Irene Tu, Lucas Zelnick, and Ashley Gavin. She has worked with Amazon Prime, META, and HBO. Sureni was recently featured on Don’t Tell Comedy. She just completed the 2023-2024 Hot & Funny Tour alongside Sydney Stigerts, a DIY national tour geared towards queer audiences. She’s a regular in with college circuit with KP Comedy. In 2024, she was selected for Netflix’s “Introducing…” Series for the Netflix is a Joke Festival.

Abby Govindan is a 26-year-old stand-up comedian and writer based in New York City. Abby got her start in comedy at the age of 20, making her comedic debut at Caroline’s on Broadway in New York City in December of 2017. Within a year of pursuing comedy, she had a meteoric rise after she went viral on the internet for her sharp wit and comedic ingenuity. Since starting comedy, Abby has performed at venues all over the world and, in 2019, even toured as a headliner for several colleges across the nation while being a college student herself. Since blowing up on Twitter and Instagram, she’s opened for coveted comedians such as Russell Peters, Daniel Sloss, and Hasan Minhaj. She has also traveled the world and regularly sells out shows across the country as a headliner. Now, as she works on cementing a name for herself outside of internet virality, Abby is sharing her critically acclaimed, heartwarming one-hour solo show, “How to Embarrass Your Immigrant Parents,” across the country.

Tarunika Anand is your friendly neighborhood they/them who recently broke up with their therapist and decided to make it everyone else’s problem by doing stand-up. You can catch this dyke with a mic all over the DMV, including at the DC Improv, the Comedy Loft, and A League of Her Own!

Swetha Ramesh began performing comedy in 2023 to stop stress-baking weekly pans of shortbread. A graduate of Grassroots Comedy’s stand-up incubator program, they now deliver tongue-in-cheek punchlines at some of the city’s best known stages, including Union Stage, DC Comedy Loft, and As You Are. Swetha’s comedy takes you through their journey from frat bro, to horse girl, to bonafide, local queer about town – complete with witty one-liners. While their views are their own, their Netflix login is definitely borrowed (sorry).

Comedy Bonfyre is a D.C. based comedy and storytelling production, produced by Ambi Narula and Lyka Miranda. Comedy Bonfyre shows bring the heat, laughter and good vibes just like a real bonfire.

This show is part of SPRUNG!, a four-day, eight show comedy festival presented by Improbable Comedy.

    About Improbable Comedy:
Founded in 2012 by social-worker-turned-comedy-producer Kim Levone, Improbable Comedy has hosted more than 150 shows in local venues around the DMV. The goal has been to transform the industry by giving the mic to hilarious comedians who have been underrepresented on stage. Since our first show at Vicino’s restaurant, we have brought big laughs to theatres, bars, swanky clubs, and people’s homes. We now have regular shows at Busboys & Poets and the Arts Barn as well as partnerships with the Montgomery Parks Department and at the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre.

Please Note: Due to the nature of live performance, we sometimes have to make a last minute change in the lineup of performers. We appreciate your understanding and patience. It is always our aim to present a great show for our audience.

**Important: Please note the venue’s covid policies.**
