Eastern Standard Time Free Concert
March 7 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeEastern Standard Time will blast off with their funky rhythms blending soul, funk, jazz, and reggae in a free concert at the Takoma Park Community Center auditorium.
Dubbed by the Washington Post as “one of Washington’s best bands,” the award-winning group combines their own original music with surprising covers, including songs by well-known Jamaican musicians such as the Wailers and jazz greats like Charlie Parker.
Featuring talented musicians from the D.C. area, Eastern Standard Time has toured extensively in the United States and Europe and was the first band of its genre to tour in Russia. They have raised the roof at many local venues, including the 9:30 Club, Wonderland Ballroom, and The Wharf. The band also has served as the backing band for numerous Jamaican musical legends, including Derrick Morgan and Sister Nancy.
The concert is free and no tickets or reservations are required. Donations will be accepted to support the band. Seating is first come first served, and there is limited parking at the Takoma Park police station, Piney Branch Elementary School, and neighboring streets.
This event is part of the Takoma Park Arts series organized by the City of Takoma Park’s Arts and Humanities Division, which includes free concerts, theater, dance, film screenings, art exhibitions, and other events at the Takoma Park Community Center.
