Ride On Bus Routes, Stops Affected by Purple Line Work

A number of Ride On bus routes and stops have been altered as of yesterday due to Purple Line construction, according to a county press release.

For example, several Ride On bus stops will be temporarily relocated along northbound Colesville Road (between Wayne Avenue and Georgia Avenue—look for the purple temporary shelters), on the second floor of the transit center, and on East-West Highway.

Ride On routes that will be affected by the changes include 1, 2, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 28 and 129.

Riders can find maps of the changes to the transit center stops and the temporary locations online. In addition, some stops along East-West Highway and on Dixon Avenue will be temporarily eliminated.

Most of the bus bays on the ground floor of the transit center will be closed during this construction, which is expected to last about five months.

Blind and visually impaired passengers can attend a walking tour on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. to help orient them to the temporary bus stops.

Interested participants can RSVP to Marybeth Cleveland at [email protected] or by calling 301.412.4224.
