The county government maintains a winter storm information portal where residents can find a variety of information relevant to the storm expected to hit the area tonight.

About 200 employees and 175 pieces of equipment are available for snow removal. In addition, the county can call on nearly 200 contractors and their equipment if necessary.

Snow removal activities start once three inches of snow has accumulated. Prior to that, workers pretreat roads and lay down salt and abrasives on area streets.

The portal includes links where residents can learn who is responsible for clearing their street, the status of snow removal operations, and submit a service request.

In addition, there is information about how the county prepares for a storm, as well as actions taken during and after the storm.

Residents can stay up to date on the latest information by subscribing to the Alert Montgomery system.
